A note from Mrs. Barnes…
What kind of parent are you? Are you a “consultant”, “helicopter” or “drill sergeant”? Today, I’d like to share how each of these parenting styles handle children and their responsibilities:
The consultant: The Love and Logic parent very seldom mentions responsibilities. The expectation once the child knows what to do is that he/she will complete tasks on their own. If they choose not to do their assigned tasks, the parent will do something about it.
The helicopter: This parent makes excuses for the child, but complains about mishandled responsibilities.
The drill sergeant: This parent makes a lot of demands and has lots of expectations about responsibility.
