Counselor’s Corner

A note from Mrs. Barnes,

It’s a fact that technology is a very important part of our world. Our children need to learn early about safety and boundaries when using digital media/technology.  At this age, it’s important to be a good example for your children.  Adults can forget to “disconnect” from digital media and “connect” with the family.  “A study from Northwestern found that children with tech-obsessed parents were more likely to become dependent on various technology as they grew up”.*  Another suggestion is when you allow your child to use technology, be involved in what they are doing and set strict time limits.  Let your children know early on that it will be common for you to always know what they are doing with technology as well as your rules and expectations while using technology.
