Lanie was a wonderful Super Scientist in Mrs. C’s class!
Super Scientist Lanie showed us an amazing explosion of color! Colors begin to dance when you mix a little milk, food coloring, and a drop of liquid soap. Lanie filled a dish with milk. Next, she added drops of food coloring. Last, she dipped a Q-tip covered with dish soap into the milk. The colors began to swirl and move in the milk. It made a beautiful tie-dye. The secret of the bursting colors is the chemistry of that tiny drop of soap. Dish soap weakens the chemical bonds that hold the proteins and fats in solution. This is when the fun begins with dancing colors in the milk!! Great job, Lanie!
